The Sky is Crazy- Must Read

after 6 years i finally read the sky is crazy after putting it off for so long. when the book first came out to rave reviews i made a mental note to get it the next time i was at the store. but everytime i went, some other book would have caught my fancy and i would buy it instead and forget all about this book. a few days ago i was at borders getting a gift for a dear friend when i saw this book. again i had found another book which i wanted but after some deliberation, i decided to get the sky is crazy. and boy did i love it.

the book is written by a former stewardess (Yvonne Lee) who has since clipped her wings. her book tells of the hi's and lo's she goes thru in dealing with her job. i can closely relate to this book. growing up with a pilot father and an ex-stewardess mother i have heard countless stories which left my jaw hanging open at the absurdity of it all. from stories of ghostly passangers to those who got knocked on the head with a tray by a stewardess who was pushed over the edge and the time my mom was showered by the vomit of a passenger.

I loved hearing these stories. when my dad came home, esp from long flights like LA, we would all gather in the kitchen and await the bag opening ceremony, a much anticipated event akin to opening a treasure chest. we would wait with abated breath to see if he got us that jeans or top or handbag and the many bottles of victorias secret bottles that us girls would jostle over only to have mum swoop down n go 'ill take that thank u'. and dont even get me started on the chocolates! i loved the many types of m&ms he wud bring home in large bags that wud make a dentist cry. but my fav chocs came from frankfurt in germany. when he comes home from frankfurt i wud be the first to greet his bag him at the door and greedily sweetly offer to carry his super heavy luggage into the house and proceed to open his bag n get 1st pick of EVERYTHING! HA HA HA (cue cruella laugh)

and thr were those times when i was younger when i still qualified for the family tickets when we wud get free first class tix to anywhere in the world. i dont anymore but i vividly remember the time wen i stil did. it was luxury beyond compare for me, who really, if it wasnt for my dad wud never be able to afford such luxurious and expensive tix. return first class tix to london cost 25thousand. that is enough to pay for a down payment of a house. or half a car! and it was heaven. as soon as u boarded the aircraft, u r offered a drink (juices, champage, anything u like) then ur offered a selection of mags from all over the work, and wen i say all over the world, i mean all over the world. u hv ur harpers bazaar us, vogue italia, womens weekly from msia to nz to australia, O mag from south africa, hello uk, and a lot of business mag i have no interest or understanding in.

after take off and the seatbelt sign has been turned off, the crew starts their 1st meal service, wafts of delicious aroma wud escape the galley curtains and my tummy (which was full prior to take off) wud start rumbling. MAS's signature dish is their satay. n lemme tell u. u have not tasted satay till uve had MAS'. it is THE best i have ever had. BESTest EVER! after satay they wud bring about some soup. then it was my FAV part. the CAVIAR. i hv only ever eaten caviar on board coz i cannot afford it myself. the best quality ones can cost up to 200 USD a teaspoon. yes, teaspoon. they dont come cheap bt taste oh so good. well theyre basically cured fish eggs n some people cannot stand the fishy taste but for that price, id lick the bowl clean.

i have travelled coach (thats all i travel now! haha) and am quite accustomed to the meal trays whr everything is wrapped in foil n plastic, dont even get me started on the plastic cutleries. but in first class, the only thing plastic are the smiles worn by the stewardess who are tired and sleepy and really wish they were doing anything but serving u. mains wud b more luxurious food items like lobsters and fillet mignon steaks. i once had steak for bfast. apparently in some parts of the world they have breakfast steaks in the morning. i cud live with that everyday.

and the best part is when u get tired, one of the crew members will come over to ur place and turn ur seat into a bed. complete with bed covers n all. and the blankets they give, are dawn feathers, so sedap (available for purchase at MYR 268 ok). and! u have a foot rest that can come to u with the push of a button. like itll be half a metre away from u n u push the button n it will come like a good puppy. and can also be turned into a seat for ur companion shud u wish to have dinner togather. oh man!! i miss all that!! i gotta get rich.. oh n they also provide pyjamas for u to sleep in so ur clothes dont get crumpled. the jammies look like uniforms worn by mental hospital patients but lets not go thr...

Those foot stool will come to u like a good puppy at the touch of a button

Best sleeping spot at 35 000 feet in the air

i miss being young and getting free rides... n xpayah isi minyak coz ur not working n ur dad isi for u all d time... and not having to pay for meals.. oh how things have changed.. bt im thankful to have a secure job.. alhamdulillah..

ill get to telling u guy the ghost story later later on okie! have a good weekend peeps!
