marry we??

on a slow boring tuesday, i get an IM from jj at work, after ignoring me for most of the day coz he was busy, saying that he was craving for oyster mornay so we were goin out for dinner. i found this weird coz im the crave-er in our relationship. he wud normally just go along. he hardly ever craves anything! boring tummy he has.

the place we were going to is in wangsamaju, and in my book, anywhr more then 20 kms away from my home is practically another country. it was 8pm when he picked me up. i was so hungry by this time that i was practically gnawing on the car seat. pls bear in mind that my dinner time, at the latest is 630pm. n i hate dat hunger pang that seem to eat away at ur tummy. bt i sensed something was goin on so i kept my green eyed monster in check.

it took us only abt half an hour to get there and as we were reaching the place he took an unknown turn. i though this was weird but i reasond that he knew this area really well, mayb he's taking a short cut or somthing. he pointed out wangsa walk to me n i went 'ooooh they have a cold storage!' (i have an unhealthy addiction to supermarkets) to which he replied 'u wanna go??' i flashed him a look n sed 'hello??? do u kno wat time it is??? im so hungry i cud eat a family of elephants n u wanna go jln2 kt supermarket???!?' ok green eyed monster peeping over the wall!

he took me around n around n around. at one point i looked out the window n saw the zoo negara!! i looked at him n sed- r we lost?? it was almost 9 by now n my tummy juices were churning out acid that was burning holes in my tummy in search for food!

i kindda guessed he was gonna propose at the restaurant coz he was acting all weird so i was thinking in my mind, y d heck is he going around n around in circles?? is the staff having problem sticking the damn ring into the dessert?? is he trying to work up the courage?? watt??!

then we FINALLY arrived after my incessant bables urging him to go faster as i really needed to use the loo.

after refreshing myself, we sat down n ordered. as we were waiting for our food, he looked worried n distracted and the moment i start to talk he would zone out like he's thr but he's not really thr. get wat i mean? n im like 'hello, talk to me'.
and then!! all of a sudden the restaurant doors opened n i see my dear dear darlings frens walk in, D, la's husband, followed by La n their baby, Mari (holding up her phone the entire time recording the event) and her bf Af af. they were each carrying a pla card that read, M-A-R-R-Y. i turned n looked at him n he was holding up an M and an E, only the M was upside down so it sed MARRY WE.

den he took out the ring box. or rather, accidently threw it across the table. nervous n embarassed punye pasal. n fixed it on my finger!

i found out later the reason he took me around the tour of wangsa maju was that mari was late, and she had the placards so he had to stall while she was stuck in traffic with marry we.

our wedding is planned for next year and i pray to Allah swt all goes smoothly and as planned.

so there, that is the story of his proposal to me. and to answer his question - will you marry we? of course i sed yes. how could i say no to marrying 6 people at once!

shoving my hands in his face impatiently

marry we??

marry me?? -more like it

My New Love

I have been in love with kitchenaid mixers since forever. and it doesnt help that nigella n my fav pastry chef (other then my sister) anna olsen uses it. thing is, it costs a bomb here. ok not so bomb la but bomb for me considering thr are so many oth things i need to buy n u can get a kenwood one for wayyyyy cheaper here.

theres a store near my place that carries kitchenaid mixers n evrytime i pass by the display window, whr they have so meanly displayed the mixers in a row of rainbow colours, i wud look forlornly and longingly, like a child staring at an ice cream shop. only worse.. coz the child hasnt eaten in 3 days n is really hungry n so she needs the ice cream to survive.

so ive been looking for it on websites like mudah n lelong, then it struck me that these sites sometimes sell used things n eeeuu im gona b making food with it n eeeuuu coz i dont kno whr its been u kno! ok i kno i can clean it yadda yadda yadda bt im anal like dat get over it.

den i went on this magic website called amazon! whr beautiful kitchenaid mixers had such tiny pricetags compared to here!! ok not so tiny wen converted bt real tiny for kitchenaid!!

the ARTISAN STAND MIXER 5KSM150PS costs about 2400- 2600 MYR but in the US its like 299.00 USD. heaven??!? i think so!! its even cheaper (256 USD) for some less popular colours like the yellow (which i love)!!

the price here is more then double the selling price thr!! insane!!

so now im inclined to buy it online n have it shipped over but id like to get some feedback from ppl who have bought heavy things online from the US. i wanna kno wud i be taxed? also theres the voltage issue. i read on a blog that Malaysia uses the same high voltage as the UK at 240kV. The US uses 110kV. so wud this pose a problem? well if anyone knows pls pls pls enlighten me.

in the meantime. feast ur eyes!!

p/s: btw he proposed!! but lets save that for another post eyh?

r you in love yet???

baby talk

Ive been an silent reader of munirah's blog for some time now. i love her tales as well as trials and tribulations of raising her 3 kids (and another on the way). i guess it reminds me of how my mom raised me and my siblings because she's married to a pilot, and my dad's a pilot. so their husbands are away a lot and often times they are left to raise the kids singlehandedly.

one of her newer post really cracked me up. currently all her 3 kids sleep on the same bed as her and her husband. and as she is expecting, she wanted to re-configure their sleeping arrangements. in other words, get the older kids to bunk in their own beds. she would pick them up after they fell asleep and place them on their own beds, but one of her boys would climb back onto her bed in the night.

she would sing praises to the other two saying what big boys and girls they are now in an attempt to encourage the other one to follow suit.

the little boy innocently retorted back with the line below.

“tapi pApa also very big boy, why pApa tak sleep on his own bed?”

cracks you up doesnt it!?

Kellogs Special K

so ive started a new bfast regime (if u must) it starts with a serving of kellogs special k cereal served with skim milk and followed by a serving of fruits. i love fruits so i have no qualms about muching on truckloads of any types of fruits, but they typically revolve around apples, oranges, kiwis, mangoes, melons, and the occasional pomengranate or two.

thing is, i am a big bfast eater, ok im a big eater full stop, but i love having huge savoury bfasts. ive never been one to settle for a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal. on weekends, i would normally make scrambled eggs which i pair with some fat sausages or even the spicy halal african ones papa brings home with some sauteed mushrooms and a grilled tomato. THAT is bfast. not sume limp toast. at the office i indulge in the occasional nasi lemak. but bfast at the ofc is normally whatever is being served in the crappy cafe downstairs which is usually roti telur or maggi grg. so unhealthy kan! like wat a way to start my mornings!

so that was y i dcided to try this kellogs special k 2 week challenge. i wont be following it by the book as it requires u to take the cereal for bfast AND dinner. i might not survive that. so im starting off slow with bfast first. depending on my level of famish-ness tonite, i will decide if i can subsist on it alone.

In the meantime, i have cut up a large tupperware of mangoes and apples into tiny bite sized bits to munch on coz i cannot not munch. its like my mouth has a mind of its own. i have to munch on sumtin or it might start to munch my own tongue.

so far i feel great! hunger pangs have not set in yet even tho i only had cereal and fruits and nothing savoury! ive got a good feeling about this. oh and just so u know.. im already 50 mins into this diet! 50 whole mins n i havent gone hungry! amazing rite!

well it is for me anyway!

World Hunger 2010 Charity Walk

I did my first ever charity walk in my adult life over the weekend. and it was soooooo much fun!!

i stumbled across the reg booth one day while i was out having lunch. i called jj n he gave his nod of approval. then i roped in some buddies who were equally excited and clueless about it.

the evening before the walk, jj had a football friendly with his buddies and twisted his ankle. my first thot was 'oh noooo!! kesian!! r u ok!' winds of change came quickly and concern turned to 'omg!! den u kenot walk tomorrow!! ohh mann!! u kno how long weve been planning for this??' he shushed me n sed he wud be ok to walk by morning. i highly doubted it n offered my late grandmothers wheelchair, the one we use as a racing vehicle around the house. very mature ppl we are.

so come morning he picked me up for breakfast and lo n behold! he was limping! and walking very slowly, dragging his swollen ankle.. shiannn!! i told him not to do the walk, instead he cud just sit by the side and hold our handbags. of course he disagreed. 'tanak lah!!'

so we reached the place n was greeted with a sea of yellow. it was like we went to sleep and woke up in digi man land. was pretty hard trying to spot one another coz evryone looked yellow and similar.

there was a few activities we could partake in while waiting for the walk to start. nenah and i spotted the sumo wrestle thingy and was jumping up n down in xcitement! the suit was like a portable sauna and stank of the sweat of former sumo's. disgusting i kno. bt the wrestling part was soooo fun and uber funny!! at one point nenah fell on her back and cudnt get up. she was like an upside down turtle. the man had to pick her up by her suit. so so so funnn!!!

we (jj n i) ended up walking 5 km instead of our pre agreed 3. it rained earlier so it was cool n breezy. at one point jj picked out an old old man and sed that he would be our benchmark, we had to keep our pace up to his and that he should never be out of our sight. i thot 'sure!! no problem!! he's old how fast can he really go??' 10 minutes down the road we were on the lookout for a new benchmark, we lost our old one (pun not intended).

we ended the walk with the collection of our goodie bag (which i loved) and dinner which we ceremoniously ate by the roadside along with other digi man lookalikes.

all in all it was a marvellous day and i would love to do it again!

they had it last year at padang merbok and there were two thousand ppl in attendance, this year there was six thousand.

i hope there'll be more and more ppl nx year. not only do u get to spend an awesome day with your loved ones, u also get to burn fat and play sumo AND FEED THE POOR!! how wonderful is that!!

here are some photos that i nicked from nenah's fb coz she was the only one taking photos.

digi man lookalikes
